Meet Brennen Schleter: March’s Employee Spotlight

Bascom Communications is thrilled to announce Brennen Schleter as our Employee Spotlight for the month of March! Brennen serves as an IT Support Specialist and has been with the company for over four years.

Brennen began his career at Bascom as a summer team member and was quickly brought on full-time due to his strong work ethic. Before joining Bascom Communications, he earned his associate degree in Computer Science, and explained that his greatest knowledge has come from his four years’ worth of experience working for Bascom.

In his role, Brennen completes fiber and wireless installations at customer homes. He is also responsible for troubleshooting issues over the phone, as well as going out and directly fixing any existing problems. When asked what his favorite part of the job is, Brennen said that he enjoys the fact that he gets to work both indoors and outdoors. “When the weather is nice, it’s great to be outside and not stuck inside like some people are for their job,” he said. “I also love getting to go up the tall structures and looking out at the surrounding area. It’s pretty exciting.”

Ask any Bascom Communications employee and they will say that Bascom is a special place to work, and Brennan agrees. “I think one of the things that is different about working for Bascom is that I get to go all over the county in one day to provide service to our customers,” he said. “What’s also cool about Bascom is that while it’s a relaxed environment, everyone still works really hard and doesn’t take advantage of it.”

Brennen explained that his job has looked a little different this year due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. Because installs and customers upgrading bandwidth picked up significantly, Brennen and most of the Bascom team had to adjust their schedules to get as much done as possible each day. “We have been working really hard to provide timely service while also following guidelines to be as safe as possible,” Brennen said.

In his free time, Brennen enjoys watching sports, listening to music, and going to the gym. He also likes watching Netflix and YouTube and playing video games – he must have a reliable connection!

Brennen is looking forward to many more years with Bascom Communications and is excited for what the future has in store.
